As seen in Neumann's "Swords & Blades of the American Revolution" - this sword was in use by French horsemen and grenadiers through the mid-18th century. The diagonally grooved brass grip is cast as one piece and the counterguard is present on the outboard side only. It has all-brass mounts, a straight double-edged blade and comes with a leather-covered wooden scabbard.
