The Eagle Belt Buckle is cast out of white bronze measuring 3-3/8" x 2-1/2". The die is the same as the 1814 cap plate. Previously thought to be worn only by officers as early as 1815, recent information from Mr. Fred Gaede's article "US Infantry Accoutrements, Model of 1808" shows this plate as also being used from 1816 to 1819 by enlisted men. It is made of pewter with iron backing.
