Bullet Pouch, leather, militia: [#219] Made for musket balls, these were used by militia before they became
Continental Line troops. Loading a musket was "from the horn", that is, with
loose powder and ball. Later, cartridge boxes were used which contained wrapped cartridges
- a much faster and more accurate way of loading. My heart-shaped pouch is a beautiful
companion-piece to the leather canteen #194 show in this catalog. The bullet pouch
measures 5 1/4" x 6 1/2" high and is handmade from heavy brown saddle leather.
Leather Bullet Pouch: [#196] Fine leather, handmade, militia; it is a smaller and simpler
version of #219 above. Originally made for rifle size ball, ours will take up to .75
caliber.
