Knapsack, American 2-strap
canvas: [#266] This is
made of 13 oz. canvas and is patterned after the one shown in Klinger's "Sketchbook
`76". It is 15" wide x 13" high and is gusseted so that a thickness of 4
3/4" can be obtained. It is designed for carrying squarely on the soldier's back by
means of the two straps which are held in place by a canvas cord. Has three 7/8"
pewter buttons. Unpainted.

Double Pouch Two-Strap Knapsack: [#709] Developed
from "Collector’s Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution" page
170, figure 1. Made of heavy weight natural canvas and white leather straps. Bone buttons
are used for closures. Upon closer examination of military illustrations it would seem
this style knapsack was prevalent among both American and British troops.

British enlisted man's Goatskin
Knapsack: [#111] The
envelope is heavy canvas, stitched to genuine goatskin, pure cream-white. Measures
13" top to bottom by 14" wide. White Latigo straps for the shoulders are
2", ending in "torpedo buttons" - wooden affairs with thongs through them.
Front has 3/4" connecting strap with buckle. These are available as kits
only. We provide the canvas bag, straps with buckles attached, goat fur, waxed
linen thread and instructions.
