MEDALS Sons of Liberty Medal: [#400] None of the original medals crafted by Paul Revere are known to still exist.
The design of this medal is taken from a description by Bell Moses. The medal was given to
members of the secret organization as means of identification. The tree immortalizes the
giant elm in Boston where many meetings took place, and became a symbol for independence.
St. Barbara Medal: [#7] Patron saint of artillery men. It was thought to protect the wearer
against lightning, explosion, etc. Very fine reproductions. Pewter or silver.
The "Andre Capture" Medal: [#163M]
Struck by order of Congress, only three were
made and these were presented to the militiamen who captured Major Andre of the British
Army who was negotiating with the traitor, Benedict Arnold, for the surrender of the fort
at West Point. With this fascinating medal we include a brochure giving its history, the
letters General Washington and the Resolve of Congress authorizing the presentation. The
medal measures 25/8"
x 15/8" and is
heavily cast in pewter.
George II Peace Medal: [#644] This was given to Indian Chieftans upon whom the King depended to
keep the peace. Dated 1757 with an inscription on the back - "Let us look to the most
high who blessed our Fathers with peace." Cast from Britannia metal.
