Flints: Our flints come from Brandon, in England, where they have been
mined and knapped for literally hundreds of years. Despite my attempts in this country to
produce a better, or cheaper flint, the Brandon flints are still the best available and
the most reliable. They are also the most authentic; the same mines are still producing
flints that did it in Revolutionary days. Musket size.
Flint Packet: A neat leather holder for six musket flints. Packet comes with six 1"
to 1 1/8"
flints and a flint "leather".
Flint Leathers: Cut from quality leather hide to hold your flint securely in the
jaws of your flintlock.
Flint Lead: Cut from sheet lead - another period option to hold your flint
securely in the jaws of your flintlock.
Wooden Flints: Given to the soldiers at Valley Forge by order of General Von
Steuben, these are affixed into the jaws of the hammer instead of a real flint for
learning the manual of arms. This saves the real flint and prolongs the life of the
frizzen. These are becoming required equipment among many groups for the training of new
recruits. Ours are made of hardwood, notched in the rear for a better fit at the screw and
rounded at the striking end.
