High-Necked Day Dress: This dress is adapted from an American gown at the Brooklyn Museum
and has the higher daytime neckline, shown here edged with a double frilled ruffle. The
shorter bodice fastens in front with buttons and the full skirt features pleats in front
along with a full gathered back. Very long sleeves have fullness at the shoulder-cap and
flared cuffs over the hands. The picture at right also gives measurement requirements for
either Day Dress. Low-Necked Day Dress: This version of a fashionable day gown features a low, rounded
neckline, here edged in a collar effect of wide lace. Sleeves show the popular
"short-puff" top with the long day length and with the flared cuff. The gown
fastens in back with hooks and eyes as well as ties. View the picture for the High-Neck
Day Dress shown above.
