1808 American Cutlass: [#511] This uniquely designed cutlass was assigned to the USS Niagara. The
guard is of satin finished steel, the grip is polished hardwood. The 28" blade is
stamped "Replica" as requested by the present restorers of the vessel.
1804 British Cutlass: [#510] This weapon has a guard and grip of black steel. The single edge
blade is 28" long and is 11/2" wide at the grip. There are no fullers. The scabbard has a
brass throat and tip.
Brown Bess Bayonet: [#36] The 1812 bayonet, used with the 3rd Model India pattern was
unchanged from those used in the Revolutionary War.
British Bayonet
Scabbard, 1812: [#456] Copied
from an original sent to us from a Canadian museum, this scabbard is of stiff leather and
brass mounts.
1812 American Bayonet
Scabbard: [#312] For
the Charleville bayonet. Note that the locket is off-set on the rear of the scabbard. The
stitching is sewn down the center of the backside. Uses the #19 locket and #16 brass tip.
Locket: [#19] For the American bayonet scabbard.
Bayonet Belt, British: [#656] Made of white leather, 21/4" wide with the frog large enough to take the British bayonet
scabbard.

Same as British, only black. Eagle Belt Buckle : [#655] Cast out of white bronze measuring 33/8" x 21/2". The die is the same as the 1814 cap plate. Previously thought to be worn only by officers as early as 1815, but recent information from Mr. Fred Gaede's article "US Infantry Accoutrements, Model of 1808" shows this plate as also being used from 1816 to 1819 by enlisted men.
