Chemise: The basic undergarment, this version has a gathered drawstring
neckline and 3/4
length sleeves. In blouse or long-length versions. Petticoat: Same as Revolutionary War Campfollower. During this era, women
usually wore one over another in contrasting colors. Apron: Same as Rev-War Campfollower apron, only white. 1650 Bodice: Worn by "working women" as an outer garment, this
sleeveless vest has the typical shoulder epaulets and tabbed waistline of the period.
Front lacing with placket beneath. "Laced" Coif: This cap, both attractive and functional, features a
gathered back and smooth-fitting front band, which is re-enforced with an inside frame.
Each Coif is decorated with lace edging on the frame. Please note: the inside frame of
this cap has wire in its construction. This must be removed before washing. 17th Century "Separates" Petticoat: Cut fuller at the waist, and set onto a drawstring, this version
is made to accommodate a "bum roll" - the stuffed hip pad roll worn by women to
accentuate the full skirts and visually minimize the waistline. "Bum Roll": To produce the characteristic silhouette, this stuffed roll was
placed around the hips and the skirts worn over it. Popular with middle and upper class
women, ours is made in washable white cotton stuffed with polyester fiberfill. It ties in
front and has a "safety" waist tie to prevent slipping. Heart-shaped Coif: A close-fitting cap to cover the hair, with a gathering string at
the back and narrow lace edging around the face. Ladies' 1630's Day Dress Petticoat: Drawstring waisted skirt to match or contrast with dress. Specify
for with or without Bum Roll wear. "Laced" Dutch Coif: Similar to the plainer, spare-edged coif, this version has
tapering cheekpoints on a band-edged with lace. Cavalier's Ladies' Gown |
